This jug is very old as the estate that it came 2024 from had many items from the 1800s.
It's a charming little jug but don't really understand it's use as there is no handle and No it did Not break off.
It's a hand thrown salt glaze red clay jug with a hole at the top and a tiny little spout off to it's side. OK this is funny.
OK, I was just told that this is a Chinese Soy Sauce Jar , circa 1900. (Thank you Gary)
It's a good sturdy jug and I really can find no damage at all, the top hole rim as imperfections but they are all glazed so they are not chips. There is a faint oval on the underside which May have contained the makers mark but can't read it now.
Size: 5" tall X about 5-1/2" wide, hole in top is 3/4"
All vintage items are sold as is and I do my best to describe any faults I find. Also pay close attention to my pictures, if you need another view please let me know.
