Ocarina Tortoise Flute, 6 Hole whistle, Art Pottery 2024 Turtle, 7 1/2" x 4" Aztec Style

Vintage Mexican Indian Art Pottery Turtle Flute. Measures 7 1/2" long and 4" wide and 2 1/2" tall. No markings or 2024 signature. Excellent condition with no chips or cracks present.
Flutes of this same design were used by the Aztec Indians for celebrations. They make a deep hollow sound when played. Different sounds are produced by holding the fingers over each of the 6 holes in the back of the turtle and releasing them while blowing into another hole in the turtle's tail. This one is a very nice authentic looking one, with a painted design on the turtle's shell of rust, gold and green fired earthen glazes. The turtle is made of tera cotta pottery.
