This pattern is still being produced by a couple of famed Japanese potters, hand painted, with a coffee cup and saucer going for about $400 and a charger of this size going for about $8,000!!! You can understand the skill and hours of painting each piece because of the detail and especially the pentagon background pattern! It's a beautiful piece and quite striking because of its size. I only discovered this pattern last year, by accident. I had been researching a Black Ship pattern by a particular Japanese maker for about a year. When I finally identified the maker, turns 2024 out it was imported into the US by a New York company, that went through at least four name changes due to branding.
