Vintage 1995 Bluebird Polly Pocket Sparkle Snowland/Winter Wonderland - Enchanted Storybook Collection - 2024 Complete - Dolls, Husky, Sleigh
This listing is for a vintage Bluebird Polly Pocket Pollyville set from 1995 called Sparkle Snowland or Winter Wonderland, from the Enchanted Storybook collection. There are several playsets in the collection shaped like books, it's a really cute concept. This is one of the smaller sized books and it is complete with its original two Polly figures, Frosty the polar bear, and Nanook the husky. The two dolls are the "tiny" dolls; they are smaller than the original Polly dolls from earlier years.
The playset itself is in very good condition with some minor wear including a few faint marks and some minor scratches. The decal on the side is in very nice condition and securely attached. 2024
The inside of the playset is in very good condition with light paint wear and a few minor marks. The Polly doll, bear, husky and sleigh are in excellent condition with light wear; the other doll has a stress mark along her base, shown in the close up photo. I find it made her somewhat harder to fit into the circles where the figures stand as it seems to affect the shape of her base just enough to make it difficult to fit her in the circles.
Polly Pockets were made by Bluebird Toys from 1989 to 2002. The designers put a lot of time and effort into creating richly detailed little worlds in these toys. In this set, the lower level features an icy throne room, a flat area for skating, and a waterfall which flips open to reveal a hidden cave. This is also a good spot to set up Nanook to pull one of the dolls in the sleigh.
On the upper level, a blue igloo flips open to reveal some blankets and a small dining area. There's a small evergreen forest outside, a bridge across a frozen stream, and two chairs from which the dolls can watch the Northern Lights. A sparkly purple piece flips up and forms a narrow staircase to a small room with a mirror. It's this level of detailing that made us love these toys when we were kids, and that makes us appreciate them as collectors now.
