***TITLE : THE CORMORANT - Carbo cormoranus

DESCRIPTION : An original antique print from an English series of fauna images apparently aimed at an adolescent, middle class, Christian audience. The Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge was founded in 1698 as an arm of the Church of England. The Society produced not only theological books but also works on popular science, travel, biography, and fiction.
These prints were 2024 available in at least four parts bound (each set had thirty plates) and were also sold individually, as each bears its price in pence, for “coloured” or “plain” prints. The animals are portrayed unthreateningly, even anthropomorphically. Below each image is text about the animal, presented with a mildly religious bent.
ORIGIN : England

MEASUREMENT : paper is approx. 10.5 x 13.5"

CONDITION : thes are original antique prints - as such there may be varying signs of aging... so please look at the photos carefully - the first photo shows the entire print - convo me for additional photos

SHIPPING : prints arrive in a new resealable & recyclable clear polypropylene envelope - please be careful when removing the prints from this envelope as it has a sticky edge!
included is the title page [if available] and a hand written description - shipped in a sturdy kraft mailer with plenty of additional reinforcement - i usually use clean recycled packaging as reinforcement - shipping charges include insurance

RETURNS : returns are accepted - please notify me within 7 days of receipt if you choose to return the prints - you will be refunded 100% on my receipt of the UNDAMAGED prints
***one caveat *** if the prints are damaged by the buyer they are not returnable - prints must be returned in the same condition as received
