Thank you for stopping by to visit my shop.
I started working with butterflies back in 2008. After about 6 months of working with them, it dawned on me why I was drawn to them. At the time, I was rebuilding my life after some personal hardship. I used to say I was attracted to beautiful, colorful, winged symbols of redemption and change. I have a very large colorful Phoenix tattoo on my back for the same reason. Metaphorically speaking, I want to be a beautiful butterfly or Phoenix, overcoming hardship and soaring the sky in blissful freedom and beauty. I want to grow into my fullness. I bet we all do.
Butterflies represent metamorphosis and change. They remind us that our path here on earth is to grow. They are wonderful presents for anyone going through life changes. They can uplift when going through illness, bereavement, divorce or loss. And give us hope for a brighter day. They also are wonderful gifts to commemorate accomplishments and milestones in life. They can be given to celebrate graduations, births, anniversaries, etc.
Butterfly farming is the coolest thing. It is helping slow the decimation of the world's rain forests by giving indigenous peoples a way to support themselves. That way, when mangrove harvesters and large cattle companies come in looking for cheap land and labor, they find the people there already working in a sustainable way that works with the natural environment instead of destroying it. Consider that 47% of all of our prescription drug derivatives, 20% of the planet's clean water, and 28% of the world's oxygen supply all come from our rain forests. Not only that, but the U.S National Cancer Institute has identified 3000 plants that actively kill cancer cells. And 70% of these plants only grow in rain forests.
This big, 2024 bright yellow and black birdwing butterfly hails from Indonesia. He comes mounted in a 7" x 7" x 2" acrylic display case. His scientific name is Papilio troides helena antileuca.
I currently source from about 14 countries and all of my butterflies are harvested after their natural life spans, which is generally about 3 months. It is important to me that you know that no butterflies are harmed for this endeavor. In fact, you are helping preserve our rain forests when you purchase from me.
My butterflies can last up to 100 years after I have preserved them, which is one of the reasons they are so popular to collect. Just don't display him in direct sunlight because like most things, he will start to fade.
Please drop me a note when purchasing and let me know whether you would like a table top display stand or a wall mount. Either way, there is no extra charge. Just let me know so that I can affix your wall mount or include your stand. Thank you.
I hope you love my work as much as I enjoy creating it for you. God did the hard part. I just have the pleasure of utilizing it. And I hope it helps make your world a bit brighter and more hopeful. That is where the joy is, after all. God bless you.
