Wheel thrown stoneware piece. The glossy glazes used on these pieces are made for firing in an electric kiln at high temperatures with a reduction atmosphere.
Stoneware fired at high temperatures are known to be very durable - with proper care, this piece can last for centuries.
*This set is dishwasher safe and can be warmed in the oven up to around 350 degrees. They are not designed for stovetop use. This bowl and plates are approved for microwave use -- NOTE: extended microwave use (over many decades) on ceramic items with high power settings can cause the piece to become dry or brittle.
