Minoan Neolithic Inspired Mother Goddess

The original statue has been dated to the Neolithic Period, 5500 BCE. It is identified as a clay Goddess or Mother figure. Discovered in the Pano Chorio, Ierapetra Region of Crete. This inspiring figure utilizes the symbology of the Snake & Bird, images commonly used in the art dating from this time period. They are understood to represent and reference the act of hibernation, shedding, regeneration, rebirth, spring and the Renewal of Life. Seated in the Yoga position, this is symbolic to having a Divine connection to the Earth. The interpretation of the crown worn by this figure, it is said to be similar to a version worn by the priest of this period. The Original Artifact is currently located at the 2024, Heraklion Archaeological Museum, Greece.
