History: KMD is for Koninklijke Metaalindustrie (formerly J.N. Daalderop & Zonen), Tiel, The Netherlands. Founded in 1880, the company is also known as Royal Holland Pewter.
Tin is one of the world's first metals and was expertly processed into artifacts by the Greeks and Romans. History shows that pewter came into European households to replace the more clumsy wooden utensils of the time.
Period: the design and use of materials of this set makes it clear that it was manufactured between 1950 and 1960.
