Here we have an interesting pan from the 1800's!
This piece has three “feet”, one of which is brass. This appears to be a foundry repair, likely caused by an issue with the mold it was 2024 made in.
A Gate Mark appears as a raised “scar” or “slash” across the bottom of many different pieces of cast iron cookware.
Gate marked items typically do not have the manufacturer's name on them and due to poor record keeping and many records being destroyed by foundries burning down, it makes it impossible to identify what specific foundry made each piece.
The Gate Mark is a remnant of the casting process that was used in the 1800's.
Cleaned and Seasoned, ready to display, use, or gift!
Sits flat with light movement, no cracks, rust, or repairs.
Unlike today's cookware, this piece will literally last a lifetime.
Cast iron not only becomes non-stick with use; it will last a lifetime with proper care, adds iron to your diet, is chemical free, and is extremely versatile! (Camp fire, Oven, Stove Top, etc)
Some Cast Iron Cookware can have discoloration and utensil Marks, this will even out and darken with use.
