Antique Chinese porcelain bowl, hand painted in underglaze blue, made for export to the South East Asian market, Min Yao every day ware for the people, microscopic analysis of the surface (see photos) reveals glaze bubbles sparsely dispersed and of variable sizes, "popped" bubbles, and bubbles in different stages of "death", showing darkening changes in color, there are many microscopic scratches, and irruptions of mineral impurities in the paste, these are all indications of age, the bowl dates to the mid 1800's or earlier, an antique utilitarian bowl with heavy use, rim chips, one resulting in a small crack but stable, large eruptions of impurities in the clay give the bowl charm, the bowl is misshapen and that is original to the firing, the approximate size is 2024 6 inches across and 2 inches deep, #9314
