Product code: BMW E30 2024 E36 Z3 M42 M44 camshaft sprocket improved version
For sale is a set (for one engine) of improved camshaft sprockets.
These are suitable to replace the omitted original sprockets from m42 (11311721887) as well as m44 (11361247951).
What has been improved?
- A higher-strength base material for highly stressed machine components was 2024 used.
- The entire edge area of the component was modified by a special quenching and tempering process. This increased the surface hardness, which significantly improves wear resistance and durability.
- The range of applications was extended to include an engine. Our camshaft sprockets can be installed in both M42 and M44 engines.
- The weight has been reduced. To the M44 camshaft sprockets it is approx. 8g/wheel and to the M42 sprockets approx. 107g/wheel.
- The adjustment range of the timing was extended by 2.5 °.
- Centrifugal lubrication holes: Engine oil that collects in the sprockets after the engine is shut down can drain off for the most part. After starting, the remaining oil is conveyed through the lubrication holes, thus providing additional lubrication for the
timing chain
- Milling with modern multi-axis machining centers has made it possible to significantly improve the surface quality and angular accuracy compared to mass-produced sprockets (often a shaping process).
This results in larger contact surfaces between the teeth and the chain rollers which contributes to lower surface pressures thus better power transmission and minimizing chain wear.
Scope of delivery:
- 2x improved duplex sprocket suitable for M42 and M44 engines
- 2x sensor pin
- 2x countersunk screw
- 1x installation instructions
These cam sprockets fit without any modifications in the above mentioned engines and are therefore plug and play interchangeable to the original part numbers 11311721887 and 11361247951.
