Cottonwood Carving. Old Unfinished Kachina (?). American 2024 Southwest. From Arizona Estate. Unusual Rare Vintage Possibly Hopi. 12" Primative..
Cottonwood Carving.
Old Unfinished Kachina (?). It appears to be a tiny, four-inch kachina, still attached to the cottonwood root, which is about 12" long.
American Southwest.
From Arizona Estate.
This came from a Chicago estate, the family had a second home in Arizona for several generations. I purchased about a dozen pieces from this collection.
Unusual and Rare, I believe this is from circa the 1930s/40s. Not entirely sure.
Possibly Hopi. If this is a Native American piece, it is sure to be Hopi. They are located in Arizona, and this is the type of tribal arts/crafting which the Hopi did. Kachinas were used for teaching children about the various aspects of Hopi culture.
