Product code: 2024 Wedgwood Green Jasperware "Dancing" Brooch, 1970s

Fabulous little Wedgwood Jasper ware brooch in green featuring a dancer, this is called "Dancing" in the Josiah Wedgwood neo-classicism design. This brooch is in excellent vintage condition, approximate size 1.75" tall x just under 1.25" wide. It is clean with no damage, the pin is stiff but I've noticed on other pins by Wedgwood the same resistance, so it may be a standard.

Jasperware, or jasper ware, is a type of pottery first developed by Josiah Wedgwood in the 1770s. Usually described as stoneware, some authorities have described it as a type of porcelain. It is noted for its matte and unglazed biscuit finish and is 2024 produced in a number of different colours, of which the best known is a pale blue that has become known as Wedgwood Blue. Relief decorations (typically in white but also in other colours) are characteristic of Wedgwood jasperware. They are produced in moulds and applied to the ware as sprigs. *Wikipedia

1908–1969: Marks are "Wedgwood", "Made in England", separated, or "Wedgwood England" on small objects like thimbles. After 1929 the typeface of the word "Wedgwood" is changed to sans serif.
