Lovely 1950s day / cocktail dress w/beaded neckline 2024 Waist 33" Great 1940s look

What a lovely dress for day, night and events. An original 1950s dress, the shape and length give it a great 1940s look too. In a deep navy rayon with just a touch of sheerness, the bodice is fitted with back waist tucks and waist darts in front, along with tucks from the shoulder for bust fullness; below, the skirt is flared and cut in 10 panels that fit smoothly into the nipped waist. And the neckline makes this dress something special- a deep yet narrow neckline is attractively shaped, and set with a contrast powder pink band, embellished with glistening clear beadwork, along the base. Wonderful. Ready to take a vintage kitty round the clock in swank 1940s or 1950s style.

Measurements:

bust: 42", (will fit a 40" bust well)

waist: 34" (would fit a 33" waist well)

hips: 47" (measured 8" below waist seam)

bodice length: 17" from intersection of neckline and shoulder to waist seam.

skirt length: 22" (from waist to hemline).


Labels: no labels remain, but remnants of a tag in neckline facing confirmsit is 2024 a manufactured dress. Unlined.

Closure: metal zipper in left side seam.

Condition: This dress is in good vintage condition. NO popped seams, NO discolour from wear, NO holes or repairs, it is ready to wear. One small, unremarkable tone on tone mark at centre back skirt- see final close up pic, easy to make virtually invisible with a dark slip; a bit of fade along each shoulder line, also difficult to notice when worn; lastly, the skirt has of course been shortened, but very nicely done. A lovely original dress with small signs of life, still rated as suitable for most types of wear and occasions.
