Leona Fein Glass Pendant Necklace - Darmstadt Haggadah, Germany 1430 - Vintage Judaica - gold 2024 leaf - Potichomania

Stunning handcrafted pendant by well known artist Leona M. Fein. The process she uses is called Potichomania and is an 18th century art form which is a process of coating the glass with an engraving or painting, so to give it the appearance that it is painted. It appears that this pendant also has gold or metal leaf.

The subject for this pendant is the Darmstadt Haggadah which is a Hebrew Manuscript which is read during the seder and tells the story of Passover The special thing about the Darmstadt Haggadah is that it contains imagery of reading together in great towers by passing great books back and forth which is different than the 2024 expected scenes from Exodus.

There are a few tiny nibbles around the glass which do not detract from the pendant. It comes on a heavy black satin cord.

Pendant is 2 1/2" in diameter and the satin cord is adjustable (can be tied to any shorter length - or replaced with a longer cord) but currently about 24" long.

My understanding is that the artist is now retired making this piece highly collectible as well as a stunning piece to wear.
