Antique Flatware, Set of Six Knives, Tea Knives, Butter Knives, Cased 2024 Flatware, William Devenport, Sterling Handles, Silver Plate, 1919
On offer is this lovely set of six tea / butter knives. They're in good condition overall, the silver plate and sterling silver shine up well still - notable areas of ware to the blades exposing the base nickel silver (brassy tone) as well as notable scuffs and scratches commensurate with age; there are numerous shallow dings and dents to the handles which catch the light but as shown all adding to the aged charm and character of the set.
They're of traditional form, the blades are plain in design and marked "EP NS" on their reverse.
The sterling silver handles have been beautifully decorated with an attractive elegant design which displays ever so well still.
All handles are hallmarked the same for Birmingham, 1919 and the maker William Devenport.
They measure 16.7cm (just over 6 and 1/2 inches) in length and come presented in a period fitted case (not original to the knives) which is also in good order - extensive scuffing and paper covering loss all over the exterior as well as staining and ware to the interior lining.
A lovely set of knives ready to be collected and enjoyed once again!
